Turkish products will be introduced to importers in Mexico, Colombia and Chile, as well as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, with the virtual trade delegation programs implemented by the Ministry of Commerce within the framework of the measures taken to combat the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic.
According to the information obtained by the AA correspondent, the Ministry of Commerce, working with the vision of being an exemplary institution in Turkey’s transition to the digital economy, implemented the necessary works to carry out customs transactions online before the Covid-19 outbreak.
Continuing its digitalization activities during the fight against the epidemic, the Ministry started pioneering works such as virtual fairs and virtual trade delegations to ensure social isolation upon the instruction of Minister Ruhsar Pekcan.
These studies aimed to minimize the effects of Covid-19 on exports and to offer new promotional opportunities to exporters. Support mechanisms for virtual trade delegations and fairs were also implemented.
In this regard, virtual trade delegations, which were launched in May and continued successfully with more than expected interest, will continue with two new programs.
Goods made of ferrous and non-ferrous metals will be introduced in a virtual environment
Virtual trade delegations, which have recently been deemed appropriate to be organized within the framework of the relevant legislation of the Ministry regarding the support of digital activities, will be held under the coordination of the Ministry and organized by the Istanbul Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association (IDDMİB).
The program, which was decided to be held in three phases for Mexico, Colombia and Chile, the first of which was held on 18-19 June, the other phases of which will be held on 24-26 June and 29 June-3 July.
26 exporters from Turkey and 16 foreign importers will participate in the program to be held on kitchen and household goods and industrial kitchen equipment.
Another virtual trade delegation program to be held under the coordination of the Ministry and organized by IDDMiB will be held on 22-25 June on ferrous and non-ferrous metals for the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. The delegation will include 24 exporters from Turkey and 11 foreign importers.
It is evaluated that moving trade delegations, which cannot be carried out physically, to the digital environment during the fight against Covid-19, when the international trade volume decreases, will make significant contributions to Turkey’s exports.
