Türkiye increases its ‘commercial weight’ in Uzbekistan

Turkey became the third country that established the most companies in Uzbekistan.

In the statement made by the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, information was given about foreign capital enterprises operating in the country.

While there are a total of 10,604 companies established with foreign capital in the country, Turkey, with 1306 companies, ranked 3rd after Russia and China among the countries that established the most companies with foreign capital.

According to the statement, 1864 companies with Russian capital, 1690 with Chinese capital, 1306 with Turkish capital, 827 with Kazakh capital, 824 with Japanese capital and 4 thousand 93 companies established by other countries are operating in Uzbekistan.

While most of the foreign capital companies established in the country operate in the fields of industry, trade and construction; 3 thousand 758 companies operate in the industrial sector, 2 thousand 645 companies in commerce, 824 companies in the construction sector, 591 companies in the agriculture, fish and forestry sector, 472 companies in the services sector, 284 companies in the transportation and logistics sector, 274 companies in the information and communication sector, and 148 companies in the health and social sector.

According to official data, Turkey, which established 231 companies in the January-June period of 2019, ranked 3rd after China and Russia among the countries that established the most companies with foreign capital in this period.

Uzbekistan-Türkiye trade volume exceeded 2 billion dollars

On the other hand, Tashkent Embassy Commercial Counselor announced data on Uzbekistan-Turkey 2019 trade volume.

Accordingly, the trade volume between the two countries, which was 1.7 billion dollars in 2018, exceeded 2 billion dollars for the first time in 2019 and reached 2 billion 212 million dollars.

According to consultancy data, the trade volume between the two countries increased by 26.6 percent last year.

Last year, Turkey’s exports to Uzbekistan increased by 19.4 percent, exceeding 1 billion dollars for the first time and reached 1 billion 135.7 million dollars.

In the same period, Turkey’s imports from this country were calculated as 1 billion 76.2 million dollars, with an increase of 35.3 percent.

In 2019, Turkey’s foreign trade surplus with Uzbekistan was recorded as 59.5 million dollars.

In 2018, Turkey-Uzbekistan trade volume increased by 16.2 percent and reached 1 billion 747 million dollars. During this period, Turkey’s exports to Uzbekistan were 951.4 million dollars and imports were 795.5 million dollars, while Turkey’s foreign trade surplus with Uzbekistan was calculated as 155.9 million dollars.
