Turkey and Uzbekistan are entering a new era in developing trade along the center of the New Silk Road. With its open-door policy in the economy, Uzbekistan offers significant opportunities for Turkish investors. In order to seize this opportunity, the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) organized a visit to Uzbekistan on September 30. A group of 80 businessmen, led by ITO, made a visit to Uzbekistan. LASİAD President Giyasettin Eyyüpkoca participated in the visit.
During their trip to Tashkent, ITO engaged in sectoral bilateral business meetings and discussed investment opportunities at the Uzbek-Turkish Business Forum. Speaking at the opening of the forum, Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Camşid Kuçkarov emphasized that Turkey was the first country to recognize Uzbekistan’s independence and highlighted the shared religious and cultural values between the two nations. Kuçkarov also discussed the recent economic reforms in Uzbekistan, stating that barriers to foreign investment had been removed, and liberalization measures had been implemented across all sectors.
ITO President İbrahim Çağlar expressed the unity and shared history of the two countries, stating that they should work together in investments and trade. He emphasized the need to negotiate agreements and establish partnerships before leaving, and assured that ITO was ready to provide support in bureaucratic processes, investment ideas, and information sharing for Uzbek businessmen. Çağlar also mentioned that there are various business opportunities in Turkey, and ITO is ready to offer any necessary support.
