While sector associations, ready-to-wear brands, fashion design students and designers participated intensively in the opening program of the event held at Wow Airport Hotel Convention Center, the creations prepared by Okan University Fashion Design Department students using sub-industry products attracted the attention of the visitors.

Prof. Dr. Demet Irklı Eryıldız, Dean of Okan University Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, and other sector representatives were present at the opening program, and TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu sent a message saying that he wished the event to reach its goal and congratulated everyone who contributed.

Supply Industrialists Support Fashion Perception with ‘Trend Innovation’

Murat Özpehlivan, President of KYSD, stated in his opening speech that the Trend Innovation event has three main topics: ‘The first is to improve the trend and innovation aspect of our supplier industry. The second is to increase University-Industry cooperation, which we started a long time ago with Okan University; they bring us different perspectives with the creations they prepare. The third is to support the fashion perception of our ready-to-wear sector from the supplier industry. As we have always said, I would like to reiterate here once again; there cannot be a full industry without a subsidiary industry. Fairs, events and B2Bs are organized all over the world. In our opinion, offering stands to our sector companies participating in fairs and B2Bs at 500-600 Euros per square meter for around 380 Dollars with today’s values means serving the country in a real sense. In this sense, I would like to applaud our fair committee and our board of directors for their hard work. There is a rule when writing a composition; write the main text first and put the title last! The name of this event is Trend Innovation; there is sweat, labor, effort in the introduction, struggle, perseverance and determination in the development part. We hope that the outcome will be auspicious and fruitful. I would like to thank you all again for coming and supporting us.

Industry-Education Cooperation Must Be Sustainable

In her speech, Prof. Dr. Demet Irklı Eryıldız, Dean of Okan University Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, emphasized the importance of industry-education harmony and expressed that they would like to continue their cooperation with KYSD for many years: ‘As the Fashion Design Department of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, we are participating in this event for the second time. I would like to thank Murat Özpehlivan and the management of the association. Thanks to them, our students get to know the materials produced by the valuable industrialists of the sector and make creations with those materials. In this way, they both develop their creative powers and get acquainted with the sector. And we see this as a great gain. I would like to state that we are open to all kinds of projects with our students, the sector and all our sub-industrialists. We want this communication to continue for many years. We thank you very much for your contributions to our country in these difficult times. There is no country without industry, textiles and education. As long as we look for ways to develop these collaborations as much as possible.

Vision 2030 Launch on the Last Day

After the speeches, sector representatives cut the opening ribbon of the event together. Afterwards, President Özpehlivan and other sector representatives visited the stands and wished the participants a good day. that the aspect that offers added value to the industry can be more prominent. As a result of the evaluations made, the topics on which the sector players reached a consensus were listed as follows

1) Sub-Industry Supply Audit System should be established.

2) A unit should be established within the relevant ministry for company security and inspections.

3) Vocational High Schools for the supplier industry should be established, and in such a high school to be established, experts in the sector should be provided to give lectures by determining the main fields related to the sector and to transfer their knowledge.

4) Common samples, Design Offices and R&D Centers should be established.

5) Innovative products that are functional, sustainable, sensitive to the environment and human health, and that use recycled materials should be developed and organizations in this direction should be supported.

6) Mechanisms to establish direct contact with international customers should be developed.

7) A Textile and Supply Industry Exchange should be established in ITO.

8) An Expert Sub-Industry Zone should be established within the borders of Istanbul.

Agreeing that Trend Innovation is a start for the realization of these articles, sector representatives said that they will start working from today to ensure that this event, which will shape the future projection of the supplier industry, will be better understood in the coming years and will have a worldwide brand value by being owned by all companies in the sector.
