On Tuesday, July 30, 2019, LASİAD President Gıyasettin Eyyüpkoca and the Festival Committee gathered with members of the press for the press launch meeting of the Laleli Fashion Shopping Festival held at Crowne Plaza Old City.
Speaking at the breakfast press conference, Eyyüpkoca mentioned that Laleli has been included in the micro-export application since July. He emphasized that the requests of Laleli traders regarding the system damaging their image were communicated to Ankara on every occasion. Meetings were held with the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Trade to include accompanied baggage in the scope of exports. The intense efforts and initiatives finally bore fruit. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Trade’s Customs General Directorate made a notification regulation in the Customs Regulation. According to this regulation, starting from July, Laleli traders have been included in the micro-export scope using the “export bonded warehouse” method. This means that Laleli exports, which have been invoiced through courier companies for years, will now be recorded officially. Traders will benefit from various advantages, including VAT refunds and government incentives. The application is expected to contribute $3 billion to the region’s trade and elevate its image. Eyyüpkoca thanked those who supported the realization of the project, including Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak, Minister of Trade Ruhsar Pekcan, Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati, Deputy Minister of Trade Rıza Tuna Turagay, and relevant bureaucrats.

He continued, “Approximately 7,000 of our tradesmen do business in Laleli. As LASİAD, we consider the festival not only as an event to revive the region’s trade and tourism but also as an activity that elevates the brand value to a much higher level. This year, about 40 ready-to-wear companies will set up booths at the festival. We will host 250 buyers, each owning at least 10 stores, from 12 countries. Our companies and guests will have the opportunity to conduct commercial connections and B2B meetings throughout the festival.”
