The world population, which currently stands at 7.71 billion, is projected to rise to 10 billion in 2055 and 11.2 billion by the end of the century.
With the adoption of the proposal submitted by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to the UN General Assembly in 1989, July 11 is celebrated every year as “World Population Day” to draw attention to population-related problems in the world.
