Yıldız Teknopark General Manager Prof. Dr. Mesut Güner made a statement to the AA reporter about the activities of Yıldız Teknopark.
Stating that a country’s ability to compete on a global scale is proportional to that country’s ability to produce new knowledge and transform it into technology, Güner said that the technoparks that provide this, with the support of the state, create cooperation between universities, industry, research centers, entrepreneurs and technology companies, and that the knowledge produced in these places is high. He said that it plays an important role in transforming it into a value-added technological product or service.
Stating that they were selected as Turkey’s most successful Technopark among all Technology Development Zones in the general rankings in the latest Technology Development Zones Performance Index study prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Güner said, “We continue to grow in line with the principle of sustainable development, with 7 thousand 400 qualified R&D and software engineers.” “While Yıldız Technopark has provided a total of over 560 million dollars of export revenue to date, the income of our technopark from the projects has reached 4.3 billion TL.” gave his information.
74 percent of companies work in the field of software and informatics
Güner stated that 74 percent of the 444 companies in Yıldız Technopark operate in the field of software and informatics, and noted that 5 percent work in electronics and 3 percent in machinery and production fields.
Explaining that the total of other sectors is at 18 percent, Güner gave the following information about the 2019 outputs of the technopark:
“The total turnover of Yıldız Technopark companies was over 3 billion TL in 2019. In 2019, the income from projects alone was over 1.2 billion TL. Güner said, “Among our 2020 goals is to organize accelerator programs to incorporate start-ups that can bring to the sector with the innovative aspects of domestic and high commercial value product groups, in line with the targets determined by Turkey within the framework of the 11th Development Plan. In 2020, we will especially benefit from the knowledge of the university.” We will plan organizations that prioritize academic incubation and the meeting of qualified workforce with entrepreneurship in order to be transferred to the industry.
The newest and most evolving trends in the world are blockchain, internet of things and artificial intelligence. We will continue to invest in these areas in 2020. “In addition, we have allocated a venture fund budget for the entrepreneurs in the Yıldız Teknopark incubation center and we will support them.”
“Annual exports of companies operating in Starcamp exceeded 1 million dollars”
Güner stated that Yıldız Technical University, in cooperation with 5 universities, launched the Starcamp International Incubation Center, the first Turkish incubation center of Silicon Valley, and said, “San Francisco is the most popular city of Silicon Valley, where 30 percent of the world’s venture capital is located.” With Starcamp, which is located in the middle of , next to the Financial Centers, in a location that facilitates access to the Golden Gate Bridge and the City of Oakland, we offer all companies developing technology in Turkey the opportunity to carry their innovative and technological products to the US market and through here to international markets and increase exports. .” he said.
In this context, Güner explained that they provide services to Turkish companies in many areas such as company establishment in the USA, legal notification address, virtual and physical office space, virtual USA phone line, mail and cargo tracking, financial and legal consultancy, investor matching, and accelerated 50 startups so far. He said that they provided delegation tours to 30 companies, 40 company establishments and 20 investor tours.
Güner said, “Currently, the annual export figure of the companies operating in Starcamp has exceeded 1 million dollars. We aim to reach the level of 2.5 million dollars in total exports of the companies operating within Starcamp by the end of 2020.” said.

Güner stated that, as a technopark, they try to use technology with all their stakeholders, be a pioneer, and be ready for sectoral movements, and explained that they work with many promising companies.
Güner listed the top three initiatives that he expects to be very successful in the future as follows:
“Smart fabric startup Thread In Motion, field management startup Ekmob, mobile application pioneer Mobven, and Sensobright, which gives robots the ability to touch more sensitively than humans, are companies that I believe can scale very quickly in the future.
Thread In Motion, which managed to become the technology supplier of important companies both in Turkey and the world in a short time with the smart gloves it developed, continues to supply technology to global brands.
Ekmob, which offers Location-Based Mobile CRM services for companies with field sales and marketing teams, managed to grow 8 times in the two years after its first investment.
Developing software for iOS, Android, Windows and HTML-based platforms, Mobven managed to grow in a short time with different platforms and services. Last year, Mobven was acquired by Payten Mobil Teknoloji, an Asseco South Eastern Europe (ASEE) group company that provides payment solutions, and joined Payten.
Turkish scientist Assoc. Dr. Sensobright, developed by Utku Büyükşahin, draws attention with the investment it received. The sensitive touch capability developed by the company is also considered an important development by NASA engineers.
